CUSTER: EL OTAMENDI ESTADOUNIDENSE

Y ELLOS TAMBIÉN MURIERON CON LAS BOTAS PUESTAS

Nicanor Otamendi & George Custer

CUSTER: THE AMERICAN OTAMENDI

AND THEY ALSO DIED WITH THE BOOTS PLACED

Nicanor Otamendi & George Custer

AND THEY ALSO DIED WITH THE BOOTS PLACED

I read that story and said to myself: "It's the Argentinian Custer." Then I realized that this was not chronologically accurate.

Hollywood let the world know that General George Custer and the boys of the 7th Cavalry "died with their boots on" at the Battle of Little Big Horn on June 25/26, 1876.

Who knows if Argentine cinema will ever be able to tell that on September 13, 1855, in the Combat of San Antonio de Iraola, Lieutenant Colonel Nicanor Otamendi and his Carabineros de Guardias Nacionales had a similar destiny.

In compliance with the duty, 2,500 Indian spearmen commanded by the Yanquetruz Cacique were confronted. At the end of the combat their 124 corpses were surrounded by 300 Indian corpses.

They also died with their boots on. That's why Custer, strictly speaking, is the American Otamendi.
